A short-term appeal received an immediate heartwarming response from individuals, Charitable Trusts and churches across the Salisbury Diocese. Because of our close partnership links, we were able to send funding directly, which reached many of those families before Christmas.
During a visit to the UK this week, Archbishop Ezekiel Kondo, Archbishop of the Province of Sudan and Bishop of Khartoum, has laid bare the scale of the humanitarian crisis facing the Sudan.
Over 1,000 families have been displaced due to insecurity and violence. You can help the Nadiangere Area Diocese in South Sudan. These internally displaced people (IDPs), including clergy and congregants, are currently sheltering in Yambio Diocese under extremely difficult conditions.
In Sudan, in the third year of fighting between the Government forces – the SAF, and the RSF, continue to be bitterly contested. The SAR claims to have driven the RSF forces out of Khartoum to where it is concentrated in north and west Darfur.
A record amount was raised this year at the longstanding Sudan Summer Fete held in The South Canonry Garden. £9,500 was raised on the day, all of which goes directly to the Sudan Medical Link
Canon Ian Woodward, who has spent more than 25 years building strong relationships with the Church of Sudan and South Sudan, has been presented with the Cross of St Augustine, one of the highest awards in the gift of the Archbishop of Canterbury.

In April 2025 the Episcopal Church of South Sudan (ECSS) celebrated 100 years since the Cathedral in Yambio was built. (British missionaries introduced the Christian faith into South Sudan).
